Russia and the winter Olympics at Sochi

As you probably know the 2014 Winter Olympic Games are about to start. They will take place in Sochi, in the south of Russia. If you want to know more about Russia today there are some useful links you might click on.
These are the basic data from the Time for Kids website :

  • Size: 6,601,668 square miles (17,098,242 square kilometers); the largest country in the world, and nearly double the size of the United States
  • Population:  142,500,482 as of 2013

  • Climate: Cold winters; mild summers; frigid in the Arctic regions
